Description

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for confident, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Develop and advise EERC project teams and stakeholders on well logging and completion procedures as well as reservoir stimulation designs to meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay current with new completions, reservoir surveillance, and reservoir stimulation technologies and practices.
  • Adapt and integrate those leading-edge concepts, technologies, operational strategies, and data applications to improve the performance of CO2 EOR projects, CO2 storage projects, and unconventional hydrocarbon recovery projects.
  • Assist EERC project stakeholders, teams and EERC clients with developing surface infrastructure and operating procedures compatible with CO2 EOR, CO2 storage, and other challenging IOR environments.
  • Prepare project task specific budgets for EERC projects.
  • Assist project managers to ensure work is successfully completed on time, on budget, and within client expectations.
  • Prepare briefings, technical reports, conference papers, peer-reviewed journal articles, outreach materials, and communicate technical results to clients, stakeholder, the public and the scientific community.
  • Adhere to and promote EERC core values, mission statement, policies, standard operating practices, and culture.
  • Candidate is expected to communicate project process, progress, and knowledge sharing effectively and professionally with stakeholders, including participating or leading tangible meetings, Web meetings, conference calls, presentations and at conferences.
  • Significant travel may be required.

Required Competencies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in oil and gas operations
  • Experience with Well completion design or generation of drilling and completion program or well remediation program
  • Experience in task management to include planning, reviewing, coordination, and reporting Cover letter, resume, or curriculum vitae
  • Applicants may be required to provide a presentation and/or a writing sample to the interviewers during the process.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing budgets, working with vendors, and wellsite supervision pertaining to well drilling, well completions, reservoir stimulation, transportation and processing systems. 
  • Technical knowledge and experience with various aspects of drilling and completion techniques for conventional and unconventional wells, enhanced oil recovery, and CO2 storage, particularly within the Williston and/or Powder River Basins.
  • Experience preparing drilling permits for Class VI and/or Class II and/or regulatory permit compliance reports related to fossil energy activities.  
  • Technical knowledge and experience in designing and analyzing well testing, i.e., injectivity test, step rate test, fall-off test, etc., using well-testing software, e.g., IHS Well Testing.
  • Experience interpreting open hole log data, e.g., triple combo, NMR, pressure test, or stress test, etc.
  • Wireline logging operations experience with working current knowledge of wireline tools.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in well completion design and generating drilling and completion programs for Class II and/or Class VI wells.
  • Experience with Class II and/or Class VI rules and regulations, i.e., EPA, NDIC-DMR, or CARB.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office suite, e.g., generating templates using Excel, generating presentations, writing technical reports, generating wellbore schematic using Visio/PowerDraw, etc.
  • Advanced experience in Nodal analysis software, i.e., Pipesim.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$65,000/Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to accommodate work activities/work life balance. Travel may be required.
