Description

The primary purpose of the educational laboratory manager position is to coordinate and support faculty with all laboratory experiences in the MLS program.  The MLS program’s curriculum is heavily focused on student performance in the laboratory setting, so this position is essential for ensuring that the laboratory is properly equipped, that appropriate protocol is followed (including safety), and that consistency is present throughout the laboratory learning experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist MLS faculty in the development, planning, delivery, and evaluation of laboratory coursework
  • Manage laboratory operations for the School of Medicine & Health Sciences biohazard lab
  • Coordinate training/duties and mentor Department of MLS Graduate Teaching Assistants Manage digital slide and/or imaging technology for the Department of MLS
  • Assist in development and delivery of simulated clinical laboratory experiences Manage Department of MLS social media accounts

Required Competencies

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to properly handle biohazardous samples/specimens
  • Ability to operate medical laboratory equipment
  • Ability to work individually and in groups

Minimum Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree
  • Documented ASCP certification as an MLS/MT/CLS
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical laboratory experience as an MLS/MT/CLS
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$56,000, Full-time, Exempt, Benefited

Work Schedule/Start Date

M-F, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
