Description

UND Southeast Clinical Campus Librarian. The position will be based in Fargo, North Dakota. The Southeast Clinical Campus Librarian is part of the SMHS Library Resources team. 

Duties & Responsibilities The duties of the position include:

  • Provide reference and information support services for UND-affiliated users and healthcare providers in the Fargo region.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop instruction in support of medical education, residency, and fellowship programs.
  • Develop and teach classes on information-seeking skills and on patient care and research tools.
  • Create tutorials and instructional materials.
  • Consult with and coordinate with the other clinical campus librarians to evaluate materials and programs and redesign them when needed In collaboration with the other clinical campus librarians and the library director, develop and provide outreach services to affiliated and unaffiliated health professionals in the state
  • Assists with scholarly research.
  • Provides assistance with library technology tools.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of services, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in professional activities and professional development. 
  • Manages or assists with special projects.

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with principles of information literacy.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging technologies used in a clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of database searching strategies.
  • Experience using mobile devices, social networking and other forms of technology to deliver information services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong service orientation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience in an academic, medical or hospital library.
  • Master's degree in library/information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Records Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical education, clinical care, and research and the information resources needed to support them.
  • Medical reference experience, including database searching.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based health care.
  • Experience teaching information literacy and subject-specific research skills.
  • Experience creating online learning tools such as LibGuides, tutorials, and videos.
  • Active participation in relevant professional organizations.

Minimum Hiring Salary $48,000/year, Full-time, Benefited, Exempt

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
