Job Details

Job Duties:
  • Oversee and directs the day-to-day fiscal operations of the organization.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy and integrity of all financial data and reports for multiple entities.
  • Maintain accounting relationship with internal and 3rd party management companies while ensuring deadlines are met and reports are accurate, timely and reliable.
  • Coordinates the schedule for the timely completion and review of the annual CAM/Tax reconciliations and property budgets for all properties.
  • Main point of contact with the Fund administrator on accounting and investor related questions, requests and follow up.
  • Oversees the completion of the monthly and quarterly financials for all properties and entities, including the Funds.
  • Assists with the property and various Fund modeling, including income, expense, contribution, and distribution projections. Also, assists with modeling of acquisitions, dispositions and other capital events based on preferred timing to maximize investor returns.
  • Coordinate the completion of all investor capital calls and distributions.
  • Leads the budgeting, analysis and monthly cash projection process for all properties and Funds.
  • Manage the timely preparation of all properties including Funds and managed properties' monthly cash flow projections including distribution and contribution recommendations.
  • Works with CFO on monthly and annual cash flow projections for Corporate related entities.
  • Coordinate with the Fund administrator and third-party auditors the production of all required information for annual audits of assets, entities, and the Funds to ensure annual audit reports are issued on time.
  • Works with CFO on sourcing capital from lenders to support acquisitions and refinancings.
  • Lead with 3rd party tax accountants to ensure annual K-1's and tax returns are issued by the March 1st deadline.
  • Manages the accurate and timely reporting of payroll, including reporting and system oversight with the 3rd party payroll provider and recording of payroll activity on the Corporate records.
  • Oversee the accounting transactions for all properties, Funds, Corporate entities, and managed properties (acquisitions, dispositions, and financings).
  • Coordinates all bank account related information including on-line user access, signatories, bank account setup/closings, ACH setup and wires.
  • Coordinate the monthly and/or quarterly Fund Advisors meetings including agenda, cash flow projections, property updates and other information as needed.
  • Coordinate the quarterly valuation meetings for the Funds to ensure timely and accurate property valuations for the quarterly investor reports.
  • Oversees and supports all accounting related software, including MRI, AvidExchange and Lockbox Services (CheckAlt).
  • Responsible for maintaining and implementing required internal control procedures.
  • Coordinate annual property tax appeal process with Asset Managers and third party consultants.
  • Identify and implement KPI monitoring and reporting, including monthly cash collections, agings, leasing and other relevant measurement tools.
  • Assist Asset Management team with budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting for the managed properties.
  • Manages accounting professionals (staff and contract), including performance reviews, goal setting, training, and other supervision, as needed.
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 6-10 years of accounting work experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of real estate experience highly recommended.
  • MRI Real Estate Accounting software experience highly preferred.
  • Highly developed skills with Microsoft office products with proficiency in Excel.
  • CPA (current or inactive) preferred.
  • General understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners and clients.
  • Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments.
