Come be part of our great team!Organizational Function and Responsibilities: This position instructs adult students at the technical diploma and associate degree levels, as well as provides continuing education and customized training for business and industry. Instructors develop learner-centered instructional strategies, collaborative curriculum and assessments for continuous improvement.This position reports to the Associate Dean for Applied Engineering & Advanced Technology - School of Applied Science, Engineering & Technology.Essential Duties: Electronics and Electrical Engineering Technology program faculty teach in the following program areas:Electrical Engineering TechnologyElectronic AssemblerElectronic Service TechnicianElectronicsThe duties listed below outline general expectations of part-time faculty. Specific teaching assignments will be developed at the time of hiring, based on the program's needs and your area(s) of expertise.1. Plan, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face, and on-line course delivery.2. Assist and advise students with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.3. Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor.4. Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.5. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.6. Work closely with the College's Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients.7. Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.8. Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.9. Attend school, program and advisory committee meetings.10. Develop and implement strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, first generation college students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities.11. Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.12. Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision and values.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Part-time faculty need to be proficient in the basics of Electronics. Qualified candidates will be able to properly articulate the concepts including but not limited to: voltage, current, power, resistance, capacitance, inductance, direct current, alternating current, capacitive reactance, inductive reactance, series, parallel, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's voltage and current law.1. Experience teaching diverse (ethnically, culturally, age and other) students at the post-secondary level. OR Industry experience with electrical, programming or electronic systems.2. Electrical background and experience sufficient to teach core associate degree courses in the Electrical Engineering Technology and Electronics Programs.3. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.4. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.5. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.6. Skill in oral and written communications.7. Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs. Willingness to travel to company locations for collaborative meetings and/or training.Qualifications: 1. Masters degree in engineering or BS in Electrical Engineering or in an engineering discipline AND Professional Engineering license in Electrical Engineering.2. Two (2) years (4,000) hours of related work experience in an Electrical Engineering setting. 3. Preferred teaching experience at the post-secondary level.SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS: Madison College utilizes pool postings for all Part-time Instructor positions. This posting is a pool position to collect applications for potential part-time instruction positions. Part-time Instructors are hired on a per course basis each semester and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester.
