Our client is in search of a Production Manager for its location in Gaylord, MN. For 40 years, this company has designed and provided innovative technology and products to the railway industry to help meet the needs of shippers.

The Production Manager position is responsible for managing the plant, ensuring that manufacturing equipment and tools function properly, and increasing the organization's efficiencies. Other main responsibilities of this role will include building production schedules, making sure production processes stay within budget and deadlines, and reviewing the productivity of staff. This manager will need to be flexible in their schedule to attend to the facility when needed, for any issues or problems that need immediate attention. They will also be responsible for the overall maintenance of the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and organizing production schedules, as well as ensuring adequate scheduling of staff
  • Assessing project and resource requirements
  • Estimating and negotiating budgets and timescales with clients and managers
  • Determining quality control standards
  • Overseeing production processes
  • Selecting, ordering, and purchasing materials
  • Organizing the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Liaising with buyers, as well as marketing and sales staff
  • Supervising and managing the work of all production staff
  • Organizing relevant training sessions
  • Motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff
  • Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep the organization accident-free
  • Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
  • Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
  • Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations
  • Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team
  • Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality

Desired Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Metal fabrication manufacturing and assembly experience
  • Manufacturing management experience
  • Currently living or willing to relocate within 30 miles of Gaylord, MN
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven track record in training employees about safety and production
  • Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
  • Ability to coach and motivate employees
