Airgas is a national distributor of safety and occupational health products, including eye and face protection products, protective clothing and respiratory protection products. The Germantown Distribution Center is currently searching for a self-motivated handyman with a mechanical aptitude to perform various Maintenance/Janitorial functions. Safety is our number one priority and a way of life in our facilities.

What will I be doing?

The Maintenance/Janitorial Tech is responsible for the overall general maintenance of various equipment, building maintenance and repairs, and cleanliness of the distribution center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Safety focused; comply with facility safety requirements
* Perform minor equipment repairs, basic plumbing, drywall repair, painting
* Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment throughout the facility
* Work with contractors, request quotes; recommend course of action
* Water batteries for the material handling equipment; report MHE deficiencies and schedule repairs
* Empty trash and cardboard containers in the distribution center
* Maintain cleanliness of distribution center floor and work areas
* Remove snow/ice from facility sidewalks and entrances/exits throughout the day during winter months
* Complete general labor tasks and other duties as assigned
* Adjust scheduled work hours to accommodate facility needs when required

What skills, background, and behaviors must I possess?

* HS diploma/GED preferred
* 2 or more years of similar experience
* Handyman mentality with mechanical aptitude
* Must be self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude
* Attention to detail with solid organizational, prioritization, and problem solving skills
* Good oral and written communication
* Computer and email experience required
* Ability to operate material handling equipment
* Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs
* Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours
* Ability to read and comprehend
* Ability to perform basic math
