Position Description & Details:

Access Services provides NDSU faculty, staff, students and other users with circulation, reserve, interlibrary loan, and remote storage pull services to support their teaching, learning and research needs. The department performs physical management of most Main Library materials, including shifting and stacks maintenance; opens and closes; manages the Hours calendar; liaises with the University Police as needed; processes accounts receivables, credit memos, and invoices from interlibrary loan providers; fines and bills for overdue materials; and prepares notices and reports as needed.

The Reserves Supervisor participates in providing circulation services; provides reserve services; oversees patron accounts with regard to fines and billing; hires, trains, schedules, and co-supervises student workers.

Responsibilities:
  • Focus on providing exceptional service to internal and external customers through a professional and team-driven environment.
  • Provide course reserves service for NDSU departments without a branch library, including processing and maintaining the print and electronic reserve collections.
  • Provide service for Access Services.
  • Train and supervise Circulation student workers.
  • Assist with the lost and missing items process.
  • Assist with maintaining Main Library stacks.
  • Assist with maintaining “special borrowers” records.
  • Serve on Libraries committees and attend appropriate conferences and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Academic Year: Sunday-Thursday 11am-8pm

Summer: Monday-Thursday 10am-7pm & Friday 8:30am-5pm

Advertised Salary:

$30,500+/year

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required Educational Training: 2 years college
  • Strong public service orientation with direct customer or patron service experience, with demonstrated ability to provide friendly, constructive, and effective service to a variety of patrons
  • Working knowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library reference tools
  • Internet searching, word processing, database, and spreadsheet management skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
  • Telephone and office equipment skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, students, and staff

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Library experience preferred, particularly experience with circulation and course reserves.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience preferred.
