Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. Our business lines are Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking, and Treasury Management & Payment Solutions.
Within Commercial Banking Operations Support Services, the Procedure Support Team maintains technical writing and procedure standards and ensures that all line of business procedures adhere to the Wells Fargo brand standards.
The Technical Writer 4 position responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Conducts interviews and partners with subject matter experts or managers to analyze audience needs to ensure process accuracy, establish an understanding of business functions and tasks, and recommend strategy to address internal procedure documentation or web publishing needs.
  • Designs and composes simple to complex materials and/or documentation related to procedures, job aids, resource guides, forms, letters, and so on.
  • Documentation and web content is typically new, changeable, or intertwined with multiple business operations. May edit material authored by others.
  • Analyzes, recommends, and documents business procedures and best practices, identifying process gaps and offering alternatives.
  • Manages small-to-large scale assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensures all procedures adhere to Wells Fargo writing style and branding standards and guidelines.
  • Follows established guidelines for organization and design of work.
  • Actively participates in or facilitates detailed discussions with operations staff, peers, senior management, and application teams to address process or system issues, understand process or system enhancements, or develop and document solutions to meet our customers' needs and expectations.
  • Partner and build effective relationships with multiple business partners.
  • May manage multiple assignments related to LOB technical or business process implementation, certification efforts, and web publication.

May be considered for discretionary bonus.
Salary range is determined by the location of the job.
The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
NC-Charlotte; MN-MInneapolis: Min: $68,200 Mid: $96,000 Max: $123,800

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical documentation and publication experience demonstrated through work or military experience
  • 2+ years of commercial banking experience
Desired Qualifications
  • Process definition and documentation experience
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of professional technical writing processes and tools
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
  • SharePoint experience
  • Technical Writing experience, preferably in the banking industry
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical writing: online documentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Open Text system
  • BS/BA or higher in English, journalism, professional writing, creative writing, education, or communications
  • Advanced Microsoft Visio skills
  • Experience applying Wells Fargo Style Guide and brand standards
  • Military intelligence or analytics experience including operational management, project management, mission evolution management and finance management
  • Experience working with military protocol and instructions, enlisted evaluations, officer/leadership reporting, and assistance with keeping military personnel combat-ready and effective
Other Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to publish in WEM/OpenText
  • Experience working with Commercial Banking Operations functional teams on complex requests or projects related to procedures
  • 3+ years of recent and relevant technical documentation and process analyzation, project management experience, and OpenText content management experience.
  • Proficient in the following applications: Adobe FrameMaker and Snag It
