Large Project Commercial Construction Superintendent

Our Sioux Falls, SD client is looking to hire a Large Project Commercial Construction Superintendent. This Project Superintendent will be an experienced, safety-minded individual who provides on-site coordination for all phases of commercial construction projects. This position is responsible for keeping work on-schedule and within budget, ensuring that specifications are strictly followed, and coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all construction services and activities, including required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Create and maintain construction schedule that coincide with milestone schedule and make changes as necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Plan and coordinate all labor, materials, & equipment required to complete a project.
  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely project completion.
  • Monitor subcontractors and vendor for compliance, safety, and quality contracted scope of work.
  • Oversee job site for material storage, equipment, daily reports, and employee parking.
  • Assist in establishing new business relationships or new customers by participating in proposals and interviews.
  • Monitor project cost analysis and budgeting.
  • Direct and oversee other superintendents in scheduling, workflow, subcontractor management, and other aspects of field leadership.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
  • Communicate safety expectations and holds everyone accountable on-site. Collaborates with Safety Department for job specific safety audits and other safety needs.
  • Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership and holding employees accountable.
  • Cultivate positive culture on construction site and promotes the vision and core values of the company.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to take leadership qualities that allow them to take ownership of a project from beginning to end.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management or related field of study
  • 10 years of progressive responsibility and experience managing large-sized commercial construction projects; or the equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft applications and mobile technologies.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as construction plans, safety rules, operating and maintaining instructions and procedure manuals.
This position requires experience managing construction projects ranging from $75 million to $150 million in size and scope.
