JOB SUMMARY The Polysomnography Technologist, under the general supervision of the Medical Director, provides evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Polysomnography or relevant experience in a sleep lab as a Polysomnographic Technician with documented competency proficiency though the AASM # Astep Program. Experience: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.# BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: N/A Experience: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to use sound professional judgement and accept responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcomes; to follow complex oral and written instruction; to complete work within given time parameters; to support St. Lukes goals and objectives. # READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints. WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures. SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
