Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set the technical vision for product engineering teams to deliver technology solutions across assigned product for UHC Benefit Operations.
  • Set the strategy of software engineering with an emphasis on automation, self-service, and end to end delivery of platforms and services using infrastructure as code, and end-to-end feature-based teams for delivery.
  • Works with Leadership to help define and shape engineering culture. Accountable for product adoption of established engineering culture
  • Provide strategic engineering leadership across product engineering teams to empower and transform the engineering culture, mindset, and delivery practice.
  • Establishes a culture of modern operational excellence and continuous improvement. Build and mature delivery and technology engineering capabilities that allow for: operational stability, performance, efficiency, audit/control management, and scalability of platforms and journeys - supporting needs today while also preparing for the long-term future.
  • Partner with Chief Architect, BenOps and UHCT CTO office to drive architecture and vision for product engineering focusing on defining and implementing a modern end to end portfolio and contributing to Common UHC Services via UHC.OPEN
  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement and raising the bar in security best practices, policies, and standards. Lead operational, security, performance, and resiliency/stability efforts across portfolio; ensure appropriate monitoring is created and leveraged.
  • Meet internal and externals customer SLA for response time, business events, and problem resolution
  • Be a talent magnet for UHCT BenOps across the business, helping to elevate the quality of global engineering talent.
  • Build and continue to enhance the UCHT BenOps brand and employee value proposition to attract and retain industry-leading engineering talent.
  • Engage leadership within UHCT to drive transformation, innovation, and adoption of technology engineering best practices and end-to-end feature-based teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering or scaled feature-team centric engineering
  • 5+ years leveraging and acting on customer insight data to exceed previously established business goals
  • Previous success leading global software engineering teams of 300+ people and leading through other leaders
  • Innovate intellectually curious, able to "connect the dots" in order to conceptualize new solutions for the business, and skill set that blends the core attributes of business product leadership and engineering leadership
  • Experience leading through influence in a large, matrixed, global environment
  • Management of capital budgets of $25M+
  • Experience managing the work of vendor teams to ensure UHCT quality, security and performance standards are met
  • Track record of success building scalable technology solutions that support consumer experience
  • Broad technology experience, including complex systems integration and infrastructure expertise
  • Demonstrated success leveraging technology to meet business objectives
  • History of effective working relationships with executive leaders and key business partners to drive change agendas
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
  • History of executing with excellence: setting purposeful goals and achieving them through intelligent actions, which balancing competing priorities without losing momentum behind execution
  • Leadership style which fosters accountability, transparent communication, and innovation
  • High level of emotional intelligence
  • Outstanding collaboration, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to sell ideas to people outside of your direct team members
  • Innovative orientation and customer first mindset

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $169,500 to $322,500.
