Mechanical Design Engineer

SUMMARY:

Engineer, Analyze & Design equipment to meet or exceed customer specifications while minimizing cost. This includes sizing various moving components like motors, gearboxes, bearings, etc.; developing assembly and parts drawings to guide fabricators in completion of manufacturing equipment; and creating standards to produce accurate flat patterns for any sheet metal components.

This position is responsible for checking to work of Designers, as well as training and instructing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

?? Design Equipment - Define machine, gather information, generate multiple solutions/layouts, analyze and work with Customer and Project Manager to select solution.

?? Create Drawings-Create assembly, component and fabrication drawings using Autodesk software (Inventor & AutoCAD).

?? Calculations - Perform any calculations needed to properly size components: gearboxes, motors, bearings, etc.

?? Provide CAD/Design Assistance - Helping and answering questions for other designers.

?? Aid Fabricators - Provide necessary instructions to Fabricators for proper creation and completion (finishing) of components.

?? AutoDesk Inventor Software Management - Set up and maintain libraries and rules in AutoDesk Inventor.

?? Participate in all safety programs and follow all safety policies and rules.

Non- Essential Functions:

??? Create cut programs and jobs for the Bystronic 6000W laser when primary Laser Programmer is unavailable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position involves indoor/sheltered work approximately 95% of the time. Continuous sitting and frequent standing and walking are required.

Frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs. Periodic requirement to lift up to 50 lbs.

Local travel by car is required.
