Position Description & Details:

The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2022. This position will be 40 percent teaching, 40 percent research, and 20 percent service. Candidates with strength in systems reliability, quality, enterprise resource management, and project and program management are especially encouraged to apply, although all areas of industrial and manufacturing engineering will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU's land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of externally-funded research in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and produce an excellent record of scholarly publication; teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise MS and PhD theses; and provide service to the university and its units, to the state and regional community, and to the appropriate professional organizations.

Work Schedule:

9 month position

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications - up to $90,000

Minimum Qualifications:

The new faculty member will:
  • hold a Ph.D. or be expected to complete their degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or operations research or a closely related discipline
  • have effective oral and written communication skills
  • have strong interest and potential to develop and conduct a sponsored research program
  • have credentials to teach a variety of courses in industrial and manufacturing engineering, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • have interest and an ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of staff, colleagues and students
  • provide exceptional service to faculty, staff, students, and guests by fostering a professional and collaborative work environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • have at least one degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
  • prior teaching experience
  • experience in Quality and QC
  • experience in Systems Reliability
  • experience in Cyber-Physical Systems
  • experience in Resilient Systems
  • experience in Sustainability
