SUMMARYThe Audience Engagement Specialist will collaborate with the Forum Communications Company's newsrooms and marketing team to grow our digital audiences, increase online reader engagement and drive memberships/subscriptions to our websites. This position also plays an active role in optimizing content and digital presentation for all of our sites, as well as analyzing data around site traffic, SEO, user trends and social engagement. It also requires working weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Curate top-performing stories, photos and videos from across the company’s multi-state news network to present in an engaging and user-friendly digital format.

● Collect and analyze data to identify trends as well as new content/ storytelling opportunities.

● Communicate analysis and insight in an easy-to-understand format to key content and marketing stakeholders.

● Identify and execute opportunities to optimize content for online search results and social media performance.

● Share and promote FCC content through various social media channels and digital platforms.

● Work with the company's digital marketing team to help grow online audience and increase the value of digital memberships.

● Rewrite headlines and conduct performance testing to ensure our content is reaching the intended audience.

● Collaborate on the creation and execution of strategic digital publishing plans for niche content.

● Assist in updating websites with breaking news and daily updates.

● Embrace a creative, collaborative approach with other team members and other FCC departments and locations;

be a social ambassador of the FCC news brands.

● Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

● Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

● Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing or a related field.

● Two or more years of media or digital experience is ideal.

● Basic experience with content management systems and social media strategy.

● Story and/or video editing experience would be a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

●Ability to work weekends is a must.

● Ability to work quickly and efficiently within a small team environment.

● Knowledge and interest in web analytics, SEO, social media and other tools that can assist us in growing digital audience.

● Strong communication skills and a basic command of writing, style and grammar principles.

● Broad understanding of digital culture and trends.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

● Must be able to work days, nights, and /or holidays.

● Regularly required to sit, stand, talk or hear, use hands to fingers; walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop.

● Required to use close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
