The Big Picture:

Project delivery is becoming more and more complex. It is demanding more intelligence and support across our projects and organization. New skills, new processes, new ways of thinking about integration. Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) plays a significant functional role in this effort. Our tools and processes provide tremendous value to our teams but are becoming increasingly numerous and complex. Mortenson is seeking a GIS-BIM Manager who will be the functional process expert among our Integrated Construction Team. This role would report to the Director of Virtual Design and Construction and be based out of our Minneapolis, MN headquarters office.

Our VDC processes are enabled through a large range of software solutions, including building information model (BIM) solutions for our industry-leading commercial construction teams, along with an expansion of our implementation of ESRI's geographic information system (GIS) mapping solutions for our renewable energy and infrastructure teams. To support our ability to grow and sustain Mortenson's VDC leadership in the industry, we need the appropriate resource to drive best practices, consult with project teams, and partner closely with vendor and IT experts on innovation and continuous improvement efforts.

This candidate will provide both GIS and BIM consulting, training, standards development, functional support, and implementation services to team members and will require strong technical, communication, and project management skills to be successful. The role is responsible for managing the GIS and BIM related processes to drive adoption of current and future VDC processes and workflows across the organization.

Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

• Document and maintain established processes, procedures, and workflows.

• Establish new processes and GIS implementation for project teams.

• Collaborate with the ITS department to manage companywide ESRI and Autodesk partnerships.

• Collaborate with ITS department to develop VDC project startup services, and relevant technology plans to support GIS and BIM workflows for our team members.

• Support the standardization of self-perform work; collaborating with project teams, field operations, and craft workforce to improve project outcomes.

• Participate in Mortensons IDAT (Integrated Delivery Advancement Team) knowledge networks.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

How will you succeed?

• Champion integration of GIS and BIM applications with other enterprise solutions.

• Oversee GIS and BIM content management, creation, approval, and procedures.

• Standardize and maintain the companywide VDC Playbook.

• Provide BIM Execution Planning setup and project specific requirement support.

• Provide ArcGIS setup and project specific requirement support.

• Provide model management administration and maintenance procedures.

• Build and maintain baseline standards of processes, and assets for ICC utilization on projects.

• Deliver software and/or process training in person or through online webinars to team members.

• Mentoring of Integrated Construction team members on software best practices.

• Ability to integrate new team members into companys VDC workflow.

• Integrate VDC assessment documentation into the company's standard protocol.

• Collaborate with Integrated Construction team members and ITS on testing of new products.

• Establish metrics for quantifying the return on investment and justification for solution investment.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, GIS or related field.

• Minimum of 6 years in the AEC space, with construction experience.

• Minimum of 4 years GIS experience.

• Expertise in developing, implementing, and managing VDC processes to improve project outcomes.

• High level of competency with ESRI ArcGIS, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360.

• Familiarity with other AEC applications such as Autodesk's Revit, Inventor, Vault, and Synchro.

• Previous training and support experience for software implementations.

• Current drivers license.
