This is an invitation to collaborate and apply your craft in a creative conscious and characterful culture.The Staff Tooling Engineer, Cast Iron is responsible for the coordination and execution of tooling efforts within the Cast Iron Division. Organizes and directs efforts pertaining to introduction, qualification, and maintenance of pattern and related tooling within the division. Directs efforts to reduce operating cost by directing pattern related scrap and yield improvement programs. Has direct input on product design as it pertains to overall process capability. Directs and maintains ongoing relationships with outside tooling vendors. Directly supports New Product and New Process innovations in Cast Iron.Responsible for sourcing, timing, and technical specifications for tooling efforts as required for successful tooling introduction.Leads yield improvement and casting weight reduction efforts.Participates actively in division-wide foundry/casting related scrap control.Responsible for tooling preventative maintenance programs for the division.Leads and coordinates tooling efforts to include layout, scrap control, and yield improvement.Responsible for evaluating and approving pattern changes as required to maintain tooling integrity.Maintains direct contact with outside tooling vendors in their efforts to construct tooling.Leads the design and procurement of patterns, flasks, dies, and related equipment for all cast iron products.Ensure that team is continually educated in the proper design of tooling and process.Coaches, mentors, and develops designers, drafters, junior engineers, and pattern shop staff.Skills/RequirementsMinimum of 8 years' experience in tooling engineering, management, and supportStrong experience with pattern making processesBachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from an ABET accredited School or a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology with demonstrated tooling design experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.Why Work at Kohler Co.?Kohler Co.'s mission is to contribute to a higher level of gracious living for those who are touched by our products and services.
