The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a full time, 9-month, tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with research, teaching and outreach interests in dairy economics and/or dairy agribusiness. The position carries a commitment to the three functions of research, instruction, and outreach, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to the position and rank. We specifically seek an applied researcher with the quantitative and empirical skills needed to contribute to the Department's core missions, who also has the demonstrated interest and ability to pursue research that adds to the Dairy Innovation Hub's capacity in the economics and agribusiness of the dairy industry.

This newly-created position is supported by the Dairy Innovation Hub in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. The Hub is an exciting new initiative at the three leading UW agricultural schools (UW-Madison, UW-Platteville, and UW-River Falls) to foster dairy research, education and outreach in the priority areas of Stewarding Land and Water Resources, Ensuring Animal Health and Welfare, Growing Farm Businesses and Communities, and Enriching Human Health and Nutrition. The position will support the "Growing Farm Businesses and Communities" priority area and will have a tenure home in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. As a Hub supported position, the faculty member will have the opportunity to collaborate with other Hub researchers, pursue Hub funding opportunities, and participate in Hub programs. Principal Duties:

The incumbent will perform research, teaching, and outreach in their area of expertise in ways that are relevant to dairy agriculture and related fields.

The incumbent will be expected to conduct nationally recognized research on economic and agribusiness topics relevant to the U.S. and Wisconsin dairy supply chain, from farmers to consumers, including dairy markets and policy. The candidate will work independently and also within a collaborative research team to support the mission of the Dairy Innovation Hub.

Additional duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (current teaching load is two courses per year) and advising graduate and undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities will be commensurate with college expectations and consistent with the teaching loads of other departmental faculty.

The incumbent will facilitate interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts within the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD in economics, agricultural economics, agribusiness or a related discipline.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Demonstrated scholarship relevant to dairy economics and/or dairy agribusiness is required. Viable candidates will demonstrate a record of or potential for 1) individual and collaborative extramural grants (e.g., USDA, NSF, NIH) with publications in impactful journals; 2) undergraduate teaching; 3) support for education within a graduate program; 4) contribution to outreach, extension and service functions of the Department, College, University and professional societies; and 5) promoting an inclusive and diverse climate within our campus and associated communities.

At the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate's qualifications must be sufficient to meet the requirements for tenure in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
