The UHC Capital Finance team leads capital finance planning and analysis. We partner with Executive leadership to advise on critical business and financial decisions and ensure the organization is operating with financial discipline.This position within UHC Capital Finance is responsible for managing a team of analysts supporting portfolios of UHC's capital investments. The Finance Manager leads the group, providing guidance and coaching, and organizes information across portfolios to support a wholistic view of capital finances.

As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting multiple business partners across UHC. Responsibilities include routine and ad hoc reporting and analysis to business and finance leadership and presentation of findings and recommendations to management. Role includes responsibility for budget planning and process support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management and prioritization of analysts' work and support for analysts in the following areas
    • Business case support
    • Benefit review and validation
    • Tech and Delivery Support (ppmo, peoplesoft, etc)
    • Training
  • Forecast and allocation management for entire segment/portfolio
  • Responsible for segment/portfolio meetings
  • Actuals/forecast/allocations/benefit reporting to director and portfolio constituents
  • Assist Directors in managing Planning process for portfolio
  • Partner with business sponsors, project teams and technology teams to create & analyze, long term capital pipelines, forecasts, asset management and program performance audits
  • Facilitate the formal capital approval process by reviewing business cases and cost benefit analyses. Then provide guidance to program teams and recommendations to UHC management
  • Compile, review, and present financial and operational information to key senior executives
  • Analyze financial results, trends, performance metrics and provide variance and root cause analysis to support investment decisions
  • Capital process subject matter expert for UHC; Identify inefficient or non-compliant processes and drive elimination or refinement
  • Develop and execute on all aspects of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Develop, analyze and report on critical business and financial metrics
  • Develop, maintain and enhance financial reports that clearly communicate actual results, forecasted performance, and variances to plan
  • Work closely with the business to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies
  • Produce reports that clearly and concisely communicate messages to stakeholders
  • Serves as the Capital Controller's primary point of contact for understanding financial performance of the assigned portfolios
  • Support management with thoughtful, actionable analysis related to capital costs, benefits, and allocations
  • Coordination with Optum Technology individuals to ensure forecasts are informed by their inputs
  • Perform monthly close analysis to facilitate understanding of monthly results against the financial plan
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate investment opportunities to maximize resources and create efficiencies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in conjunction with budgeting and forecasting process
  • Leverage technology and carry out process improvement activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive financial experience
  • Advanced level of competency in Microsoft Office products (specifically, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Previous financial planning/forecasting & analysis experience
  • Previous experience with month-end accounting and/or fixed-asset accounting responsibilities (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, depreciation tracking, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to senior leadership and/or business owners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in project management and/or familiarity with the software development life cycle
  • Previous experience with Hyperion Essbase development or general database administration
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others
  • Ability to build solid relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment while positively influencing other functional areas

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
