Position Description & Details:

The Office of Admission is seeking an organized, energetic, creative and collaborative team member to serve as Inclusive Recruitment and Engagement Specialist. This position will assist in developing, implementing and executing a comprehensive, strategic recruitment plan driven by institutional priorities for historically excluded and underrepresented student populations. Other primary responsibilities include:
  • Counsel prospective students and families who inquire about NDSU
  • Identify and establish relationships within the local community and region; build rapport with high school and community college counselors/advisors; establish relationships with college and career readiness organizations, community-based organizations and secondary school personnel
  • Coordinate NDSU's presence and attend local recruitment events, area college fairs and high schools
  • Serve as liaison between the Office of Admission and Offices of Multicultural Programs, Student Activities and Student Support Services
  • Promote the Cultural Diversity Tuition Waiver

Advertised Salary: $45,000+

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completed bachelor's degree
  • Two or more professional years of work experience in admission, student services, college advocacy, community outreach, or related work experience
  • Knowledge of needs of low-income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented college students
  • Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with students, families, community-based organizations, faculty, alumni, high school and/or community college personnel
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently plan and execute projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing data and analysis for reports
  • Strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills
  • Strong customer service experience/skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and conduct overnight travel
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional work experience in recruitment and admission at a regionally accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Proficiency in a second language
