The Associate Collections Representative is responsible for insurance premium collections. Positions in this function contact customers to determine reason for payment delinquency, negotiate and advise on collection of overdue bills and take appropriate action to recover overdue payments. Handling of unresolved inquiries/issues, and responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and managing organization policies on collection practices. May work with outside legal counsel and/or outside agencies in more complex collection cases.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (6am - 8pm). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resolve open balance accounts by analyzing various unpaid claims reports and making effective decisions based on policies and procedures.
  • Follow-up on unpaid patient/insurance claims for commercial carriers.
  • Analyze EOB denials to determine if appeal should be submitted for additional payment.
  • Research and process denials.
  • Maintain awareness of managed care and billing issues.
  • Coordination of EOB's from insurance carriers.
  • Help with data retrieval and questions during audits.
  • Help with problem solving with system issues. Work with IT department to maintain standard procedures for billing.
  • Responsible for adhering to all accepted corporate billing policies and procedures. Policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Basic Proficiency with Windows PC applications and MS Office (Word (create and edit correspondence), Excel (ability to create, edit, and sort spreadsheets) , PowerPoint (ability to create and edit slides)
  • 2+ years in Medical Accounts Receivable
  • 1+ years of Insurance experience

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas that provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Residing in a location that can receive a high-speed internet connection (additional information on UnitedHealth Group approved internet providers and restrictions will be provided)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $15.00 to $25.19.
