Position Description & Details:

The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (HNES) at North Dakota State U niversity (NDSU) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the area of dietetics beginning Fall of 2022. This position will be 40 percent teaching, 40 percent research, 10 percent advising, and 10 percent service. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU's land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service.

Successful candidates will teach courses i n the a ccredited undergraduate and graduate Dietetics programs as well as the Master's and Doctoral programs i n Exercise Science and Nutrition; participate in academic advising; direct graduate theses and di ssertations and serve on graduate student committees; establish an independent line of research and publish i n scholarly journal s; seek and secure external funding to support scholarly activity; be active i n professional organizations; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

The HNES department at NDSU offers two programs in dietetics including a Bachelor of Science Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and a BS/MS Accelerated Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD). NDSU maintains a long-standing reputation in food and nutrition. Since 1925, NDSU has educated nationwide leaders in dietetics. Our programs enroll an average of 20 professional dietetics students annually, which allows faculty members to develop relationships with students in classroom settings as well as provide opportunities to work closely with students on research and experiential learning projects. The HNES department is housed within the College of Human Sciences and Education and includes five undergraduate programs, four graduate programs, and 30 faculty and staff members. There are approximately 430 undergraduate and 100 graduate students within the department ( https://www.ndsu.edu/hnes/ ).

Minimum Qualifications:

1. PhD i n dietetics, nutrition , or closely related field from an accredited institution ( PhD completion required by August 15, 2022) .

2. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

3. Eligible for RDN licensure in the state of North Dakota

4. Teaching experience in dietetics and/or nutrition

5. Evidence of potential to publish original research

6. Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Evidence of successful academic advising at undergraduate level

2. History of seeking external funding to support scholarly research

3. Documented foodservice or sports nutrition practice and/or teaching experience

4. Familiarity with Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics standards and how to fulfill them through student learning activities

5. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion

6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a group of diverse colleagues and students

7. Current member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
