Pay Info: Applicable experience will be considered. $ 2,000 sign on bonus with work commitment.

Department Details

schedule: usually 2 days/week for week 1 and then 3 days/week for week 2

schedules put out 4-6 weeks ahead of time

surgery start is usually 6:30am or 7:00am and we go until cases are done (roughly an 8 hour shift)

call: typically one night a week during the work week, every 4th weekend, and every 4th holiday (roughly)

Job Summary

This role partners with the surgeon throughout the surgical procedure handling and passing instruments to them and assisting with the steps of the procedure. The qualities we are looking for in a Surgical Technologist is someone who is organized, has strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and able to perform in emergency situations. The Surgical Technologist will be able to use state of the art equipment and instrumentation while working on surgical cases that include general, orthopedic, cardiovascular, neuro, ENT, plastics, OB/GYN, urology, and podiatry. Responsibilities
  • Assist with assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, or documenting the care of patients
  • Ensuring that the operating room environment is safe
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the theory and application of the principle of asepsis and sterile technique
  • Ensuring that equipment functions properly
  • Accurately accounting for items used during a procedure
  • Prepares and maintains an organized sterile field
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.

Experience in an operating room setting is preferred. Must have a good knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical and surgical terminology, instrumentation, aseptic techniques, and surgical procedures acquired through post-secondary training.

National certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

If an LPN, currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within first 60 days of employment into position.

Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

If working in North Dakota and not an LPN, must be on the North Dakota Board of Nursing Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry at the time employment begins.
