Position Description & Details:

The College of Engineering at North Dakota State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of Biomaterials. The home department will depend on the research background of the selected candidate. The College of Engineering has strengths in biomedical engineering in the area of tissue engineering, multiscale modeling of biological materials and biomaterials, biomechanics, and therapeutic sensor design. We seek a candidate who will complement the expertise of the materials-focused faculty within the College and throughout the NDSU campus and expand departmental opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. The position is expected to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities:

Candidates will be expected to engage in the instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses in the home department in the College of Engineering; enhance the department's graduate curriculum; establish and maintain a nationally competitive, independent research program; advise M.S. and Ph.D. students; and actively engage in service and outreach to the profession, university, and the state. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the Center for Cellular Biointerfaces in Science and Engineering, a NSF EPSCoR funded center focused on interfaces between biological tissue and engineered biomaterials in the context of cancer metastasis (https://www.ndepscor.ndus.edu/ndepscorprograms/track_1_nd_aces_prime_institution_ndsu_2020_2025/center_for_cellular_biointerfaces_in_science_and_engineering/).

Monday through Friday

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

· An earned Ph.D. in engineering or applied science field with a focus on biomaterials, regenerative medicine, or closely related discipline.

· Specialization in the area of tissue engineering of hard and soft tissues.

· Evidence of excellent research, including a strong publication record.

· Evidence of potential for excellent teaching.

· Effective oral and written communication skills.

· Commitment to working with and teaching diverse groups, including women and minorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with biomaterials applications in hard tissue regeneration and cancer biology.

· Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience.

· Evidence of successful grant writing and research funding
