Description

This position will serve three major purposes:  1) To represent the College of Education and Human Development with external stakeholders, including government officers and legislators, who work closely with professions represented in CEHD; 2) To prepare and disseminate digital and hard copy materials promoting the College and the activities of the faculty; and 3) To support the work of the office of the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development

Duties & Responsibilities

Assistant to the Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development

  • Attend and take minutes at Research Council meetings, and provide support for the Council’s activities
  • Triage scheduling and other requests to the ADRFD, manage office and communication duties
  • Track award notices, budgets, appointments and other action coming from the ADRFD office

External Relationship Development

 

  • Identify and establish relationships with key stakeholders in Education, Human Services, ND State Legislature and other relevant bodies;
  • Learn about upcoming regional and national trends in fields represented in CEHD and demonstrate the role of CEHD to meet accompanying needs;
  • Work with UND’s Marketing and Communications personnel to ensure that CEHD is represented in appropriate conversations related to education in professional fields relevant to CEHD students.

External Communications

  • Develop and distribute outreach materials to external audiences (CADREI, alumni etc)
  • Work with Associate Dean of Research & Faculty Development to promote the College and faculty accomplishments
  • Develop and maintain blog and web-based content as assigned
  • Contribute to and oversee social media presence, in conjunction with internal communications staff
  • Serve as liaison with the Director of Communications and Planning in the Office of the Provost as needed.

General Support Activities

  • Contribute to effective College functioning as assigned or selected
  • Complete correspondence and respond to inquiries in a timely manner

Required Competencies

  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken language
  • Ability to form effective relationships with others via telephone or face-to-face visits
  • Ability to work effectively with students in both online and in-person communications
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty from range of disciplines
  • Ability to work as member of a team

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in an appropriate field, or an Associate degree and three years of directly related work
  • Work experience in a public-facing position
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in communications, education, or related field
  • Experience with or ability to learn to use WordPress or similar publishing tools

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$38,000+ commensurate with experience, exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date

40 hours per week/November 16, 2021
