POSITION SUMMARY

Assist Laminations Engineering, Operations, and New Business Development Teams with entry-level technical engineering work. This includes the design, development, and testing, of engineering processes and product improvements that help drive the future growth and profitability of Laminations. The goal is to aid in the design and implement mechanical systems of excellence and innovation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):

  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements.
  • Create technical drawings, including appropriate dimensions and tolerancing used for fabrication of components and assemblies with input from Engineers on the team.
  • Provides engineering input and research for changes to present and future equipment to improve capability, productivity, and quality.
  • Keep equipment operational by developing robust designs that are easy to operate and maintain.
  • Maintain employee safety and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Solicit ideas and observations from operators.
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs and prototypes.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Support new business development activities as required.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • To hold an Associate-Level Degree in Mechanical Design.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3-D computer aided design & a working knowledge of AutoCad 2-dimensional design software.
  • Knowledge of mathematical computing and engineering analysis tools such as design of experiments (DOE), finite element analysis (FEA) and others as applicable.
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
  • Creativity, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Technical writing skills.


WORK RELATIONSHIP AND SCOPE:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing.
  • Works closely with Special Projects and Engineering personnel.
  • May interact with Operations Management and Team members, Maintenance personnel, Contractors and Suppliers in the development and operational efficiency of machinery and systems at all Laminations plant locations as required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Individual must possess an Associates Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SolidWorks is required.
  • Experience with AutoCad software preferred.
