Description

This position provides analytical and technical assistance to the NIH funded laboratory. This position will promote the ongoing research in this laboratory, and assist with bench research, data analysis, laboratory organization, and training undergraduate, graduate, and medical students conducting research in the laboratory.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform and document experiments, analyze and document data, perform instrument maintaining and troubleshooting
  • Perform and document experiments, including but not limited to analytical procedures with sample extractions and preparation for analysis, perform molecular biology studies (western blot analysis, PCR, siRNA experiments), cell culture experiments
  • Document, organize, analyze, and interpret data and analytical procedures
  • Troubleshoot methods and instruments, perform instrument maintenance
  • Train other staff and students on techniques and protocols

Lab Management

  • General organization and cleaning of the laboratory
  • Order and stock supplies

Required Competencies

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated leadership in a laboratory setting
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible shifts
  • Work independently on routine assignments and with general direction given for new tasks
  • Demonstrated experience in analytical laboratory setting

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • Hands on experience (6 months) working with analytical techniques, such as: sample preparation and processing (extraction purification)
  • Experience with western blot analysis, PCR
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Records Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. or M.S. in Biomedical Sciences
  • 6 months of experience working with cell cultures, and molecular biology techniques (Western Blot, PCR, siRNA) 

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$32,000+/year, dependent upon qualifications, Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Benefited
