2 - Second Shift
The Painter sprays surfaces of machines and manufactured parts with primer, pre-finish, and finish coats of paint by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.
2. Apply primer coating to treated metal as needed.
3. Apply topcoat to primed parts per Vermeer's quality standards.
4. Inspect all parts after coating has been applied to insure parts are meeting quality standards.
5. Load and unload paint line as needed during rotation schedule.
6. Use high pressure cleaning and phosphate system to treat metal prior to painting.
7. Prepare parts prior to paint using compressed air to dry, mask off parts as needed.
8. Change out paints, primer and catalyze as needed.
9. Repair paint defects as needed.
10. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on paint equipment, guns, regulators, and filters.
11. Follow Waste Management (RCRA) regulation on labeling, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste.
12. Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department, offer suggestions, and make improvements that achieve the department's performance board metrics.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three months related experience and/or Vermeer Paint training.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of fractions, percentages and ratios.
- Effectively present information verbally and in writing and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customer, and dealers.
- Ability to perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
