We are hiring a Senior Platform Electrical Engineer to research, design, and maintain products for the Thermo King North America Vehicle Powered Truck (VPT) business. This position will collaborate cross-functionally across multiple regions, and have frequent interaction with our global manufacturing facilities, dealerships, and customers as well as be responsible for delivering major New Product Development (NPD) programs that meet specific performance and quality/ cost/ delivery goals. The Senior Platform Electrical Engineer will also provide technical support to Quality & Reliability, Sustaining and VAVE engineering teams along with other functions, including product management, manufacturing and field service. With Thermo King embarking on an exciting journey in electrification, this position will provide a great opportunity to work on a leading technology in the industry. This position is located in Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, evaluate, analyze, and develop electrical harness design concepts for components and assemblies to meet product improvements, product options, and customer-specific product requirements provided by Product Management.
  • Support Program Management Office in the development and execution of project and resource plans for major NPD programs, or in the case of smaller scale engineering change projects, the Senior Platform Electrical Engineer will be responsible to develop, maintain and execute these plans.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with various engineering support groups to develop technical management plan with mitigation plan for technical risks.
  • Match existing and new technologies to market needs and opportunities.
  • Ensure that DFMEA and DVPR processes are adhered to. Ensure Laboratory and field-testing activities adhere to our product development processes.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional (Test lab, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Finance, Quality, Procurement, Service, etc ), cross-business unit Design Engineering and Manufacturing groups, and key suppliers to meet project deliverables.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of Engineering designs, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test report documentation.
  • Multi-region travels up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor??s Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 3-5 years of engineering experience is required

Key Competencies:

  • Experience with vehicle electrical system design and harness / interconnection systems
  • Experience with electric machines, power electronics, and automotive networks (CAN for example)
  • Proficiency with using electrical tools and instruments to perform tests, troubleshoot and gather data is expected
  • Pro/Engineer or Creo Schematic proficiency would be an advantage
  • Experience with High Voltage components or Harness system design would be an advantage
  • Experience with new product design, technical problem solving, and tradeoff analysis
  • Ability to understand, condense, and organize information to make informed engineering decisions quickly and efficiently
  • Self-motivated with strong relationship building and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams spread across multiple geographical regions
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and support multiple projects. History of delivering programs that meet QCD targets
  • Strong project planning / management and organizational skills
