Senior Accountant

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions while assisting with general office duties. This role reports directly to the General Manager with dotted-line responsibilities to the Regional Controller.

The successful candidate will need to be a high-energy and hard-working professional who has the competence to undertake a variety of accounting and office tasks. You must be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as seeking new efficient and effective ways to achieve better results.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end closing procedures for all 3 locations (BS account reconciliations, accruals, etc.)
• Assist General Manager with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Open/close customer accounts, run required reports, prepare and approve monthly customer invoices, research/resolve customer issues
• Manage roll-off and broker sales
• Prepare capital expenditure requests
• Prepare, file and submit Sales Tax Returns
• Supervise Customer Service Representative group
• Leads collection efforts for customer delinquent accounts
• Perform weekly cash reconciliations
• Coordinate accounts payable workflow
• Other duties as assigned
• Manage complex agreements with suppliers and customers
• Prepare daily tonnage reports
• Generate LEED reports

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

• College graduate with degree in Accounting
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and communicate clearly
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs and familiarity with varied software platforms
• Able to work diligently under pressure
• CPA would be a nice added benefit
