Patient Account Representative

Lakewood Health System is seeking a Patient Account Representative to join our team!

The primary duty of the Patient Account Representative is to perform all billing duties for Lakewood Health System claims.

This is a full-time position working 64-80 hours per pay period.

Responsibilities:

1. Complete all billing tasks associated with appropriate insurance.

2. Complete all billing tasks for claims associated with private companies that carry accounts with Lakewood Health System for employee / patient billing purposes.

3. Work billing work queues and keep them up to date.

4. Investigate claims not being paid in a timely manner.

5. Solve any issues and submit appropriate correspondence to correct problem accounts and receive payment.

6. Be available to answer all customer service concerns and direct them to the appropriate person.

7. Implement interdepartmental communication to successfully complete job tasks.

8. Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of billing rules and regulations.

9. Attend regular business and staff meetings.

10. Attend educational billing and insurance seminars.

11. Responsible for any, and all additional duties delegated by my supervisor.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

1. High school graduate or equivalent. Post high school education.

2. Two years' experience in patient accounting or equivalent in claims processing. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and all third-party reimbursement.

3. Versed in public relations.
