Product Development Lead
Hours: 8:00 am- 4:30 pm

This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance

Position Overview

The Product Development Lead is a driving force for managing projects across Product Distribution Center (PDC) teams to deliver business benefits. This position is responsible for managing several concurrent high visibility projects in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple business areas and project teams. The positions focus is to effectively plan, lead, organize, and motivate project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering projects that provide exceptional business value to the organization. They will evaluate work metrics and set standards to ensure goals are met as well as define quality procedures in conjunction with various functional Managers and team member and provide input on issues and process improvementmeasures.

Responsibilities

Must be able to...
  • Provide supervision of project or multiple projects to achieve a corporate vision
  • Leads regular reviews for accountability and successful management of project, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies to current state business processes
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and the desired future state
  • Prioritize the opportunities
  • Lead and work with project teams to implement improvements
  • Recognize barriers to improvement efforts and work to remove them
  • Generate project charter, SIPOC, project schedule, Business Process Definition, current and future state process maps, proposed solution plan, road map, impact/effort matrix, metrics with approval from PDC Product Development leadership
  • Process mapping for projects when applicable
  • Supporting root cause analyses
  • Collecting and reporting metrics
  • Participating in regular staff and strategy meetings to agree priorities and tactics
  • Manage the Project Intake and Prioritization process
  • Maintain alignment in methodology, procedure and governance with IT (Agile, Project Management), Operational Excellence (Lean SixSigma) and HR (Change Management)
  • Organize and help implement Agile, Lean, non-IT & Op Ex projects, maintain backlogs, roadmap planning and department process improvement initiatives along with provide support for needed reporting functions
  • Serves as starting point|liaison for Product Owners, IT, & LeanSixSigma as it relates to PDC projects; understands which internal PDC team members are being leveraged as resources on projects and how much time they are alloted to the project and for what
  • Review departmental project requests (e.g. IT, Lean, etc) to understand the complexity of the requests and the areas impacted as well as viability and alignment with the roadmap; may perform analysis and research for specific PDC leaders and projects|change initiatives
  • Develops and updates PDC Product Development reports|dashboards and escalates any potential issues to the PDC team based on complete understanding of business change(s) to the PDC organization
  • Collects and reports out on projects driven by and impacting PDC
  • Leads business change overview meetings with PDC leaders; sharing overall impact & risks and recommending timing and resources needs
  • Build executive presentations and project|business change status reports|dashboard
  • Recommend tools and techniques to further streamline project intake and change impact assessment and project status update processes
  • Assist in the coordination of resources for various project phases
  • Assist in the annual assessment of completed projects & impact as well as future|proposed business changes for PDC with Project Support & Product Development leadership; may help develop report and recommendation to Sr. Leadership
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

  • Take on additional responsibilities from the PDC Product Development Leadership
  • Attend meetings, conferences and/or seminars as needed|requested; gains outside Digi-Key perspective and best practices
  • Lead or participate in multiple complex support initiatives impacting the PDC organization or corporation
  • May run reports, perform analysis for other PDC leaders
  • May have SuperUser designation for specific area|function of the business

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Business Administration or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience.
  • Completion of Agile Basics
  • Completion of Agile Product Owner Training Typically 6+ years of experience in PDC, Operational Excellence, or other relevant work experience
  • Ability to manage large scale projects across various geographic locations and cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of BI tools and the underlying data
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both technical and business topics in an understandable way to the business and agile teams
  • Demonstrated excellent planning, organizational, attention to detail and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Well-versed in Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint and other communication, organization platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, work effectively in a team environment, negotiate diplomatically and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability keep sensitive information confidential
  • Well versed in the various functions of Digi-Key, how they work together as well as the industry Digi-Key operates in, as well as the impact & responsibility Digi-Key has to the community it operates in
  • Strong representative of Digi-Key brand and its principles
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
