Description

The College of Engineering & Mines at the University of North Dakota invites applications for one Project Manager position to begin Fall 2021.  This position will work with the Director to develop and manage a balanced portfolio of funded projects and programs that involve fundamental and applied research programs related to the vision of the Institute:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee program initiatives and day to day project management
  • Create and implement quality improvement strategies
  • Facilitate and manage project meetings, including logistical arrangements, drafting agendas, recording minutes and appropriate support documentation for participants
  • Keep track of project budgets, including procured items and employee effort across all projects
  • Work with the PIs of the institute on proposals, and prepare materials for submission to funding agencies, including any reporting requirements
  • Develop business partnerships and support developing relationships with potential clients
  • Work with clients and vendors through the contracting process
  • Lead of participate in proposal writing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships at all organization levels
  • Excellent team player and customer service representative
  • Understanding of basic principles of big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare funding proposals

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely-related field
  • Two years experience in managing projects
  • Two years experience developing and tracking budgets
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python language and machine learning and their associated tools
  • Publications in any one or more areas of big data, cyber security and artificial intelligence

Minimum Hiring Salary

$76,000/year, exempt

Work Schedule and Start Date

Monday- Friday, 8am-4:30pm, November 2021 projected start date
