Welder Summary:
The welder must have a technical aptitude with experience in welding on fine grain steels such as S690 and ASTM A514, utilizing GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding processes. Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operation to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, and other forms of instruction

Quality Inspector Summary

Incoming inspection of vendor supplied parts
Problem resolution with supplier
Internal problem resolution
Review Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation from suppliers for approval
Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR), and layout inspections
??Corrective Action reports
Material Discrepancy Reports for defective materials
Vendor contact and auditing
Internal quality system audits
Gage calibrations
Any other duties as assigned

Must be able to pass welder testing:

  • SMAW: Two tests on 6mm A514 material with E11018-M filler rod in 2G and 3G open root
  • SMAW: Three test on 1" A514 material with E11018-M filler rod in 2G, 3G, 4G open root
  • FCAW: Two tests on 1" A514 material with E111T1-K3M flux cored wire in 3G and 4G with backing
  • GMAW: Two tests on 3/8" A36 material with ER70S-6 solid wire in 3G and 4G with backing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Proficient in GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding technique
  • Complete understanding of pre-heat and maintaining inter-pass temperatures of fine grain steels
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Use of jib or overhead crane to manually position work pieces.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of welding experience in GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW processes.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in production environment.
  • Must pass welder qualification weld tests using GMAW
  • Must be able to read measuring devices, such as tape measure
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Microsoft office and SAP preferred
  • Knowledgeable in inspection techniques and equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.)
    Must understand and be able to use Metric system
    Problem solving capabilities
    CMM experience helpful

Education/Certification/Training:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Formal trade or technical welding training, or equivalent on the job experience leading up to a qualification in structural welding, is preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of overhead cranes and hydraulic presses.
