Position Purpose

Supporting people of color in agriculture and rural communities is an integral part of the Farm Credit mission. This unique internship opportunity will be shared between Compeer Financial and AgriBank, Farm Credit Bank. This internship will be focused on introducing students to AgriBank, Compeer, and the Farm Credit System. In addition, the intern will also have the opportunity to learn will about key business areas of each entity. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Credit
  • Treasury
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Relationship Management/Sales

In addition, the intern will be required to complete a capstone project at the end of the internship and will present to senior leadership of each entity.


Essential Functions

  • Develop a working knowledge of different functions within a Farm Credit entity
  • Learn from and collaborate with a variety of different individuals from various departments/entities
  • Learn about Farm Credit clients and different financial products and services offered
  • Protect client confidentiality and integrity of client data

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Pursuing a degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or ag related field
  • Knowledge of agriculture and agricultural operations is preferred
  • Efficient, accurate, detail oriented
  • Proficient with multiple forms of technology and software including Microsoft applications
  • Ability to deliver high quality products and services
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers and leadership

Additional Information

  • Intern must be a current student (incoming Juniors or Seniors) at an HBCU
  • Selected intern may be eligible for Farm Credit's Launching Leaders Stipend
  • Student must be available to be located in Minnesota or Western WI during June, 2022 - August, 2022
  • Student must provide their own transportation and housing
