Cost Accounting Analyst

As part of VF Accounting team, this position is responsible for costing and inventory financial reporting to senior finance management, and to various external entities in accordance with required accounting standards and regulations. The Analyst is assigned to a combination of internal reporting and analysis responsibilities and financial accounting projects.

How You Will Make a Difference

* Perform the month end closing process by reviewing cost center expenses and balance sheet accounts, analyzing variances for both budget and forecasts, capitalizing relevant variances, and recording journal entries as needed, specifically smaller brands.
* Review the absorption variances by matching actual costs against absorptions earned from receipts, record and analyze the variance from standards, and provide summary information for management reporting.
* Prepare reporting to review purchasing variance by comparing open PO values to SAP standard costs, investigate significant differences, work to correct master data if required and communicate expected variance findings to the brands to assist with forecasting.
* Maintain irregulars and in-transit associated entries and analysis. Follow up on discrepancies.
* Work with the distribution centers to understand monthly inventory adjustments.
* Prepare account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: One year of related experience preferred

Educational Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

* Advanced Excel software proficiency and experience required
* Excellent understanding of systems - Microsoft Office, SAP & Cognos preferred
* Query experience and excellent report writing knowledge
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
* Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills are required; ability to apply systems knowledge to troubleshoot and analyze new issues is critical
* Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with a proactive working style
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
