Description
We are currently seeking a part-time 20 hour per week Driver/Program Assistant to work in our Senior Dining program. Senior Dining is a program that provides a meal for persons 60 years of age and over and their spouse regardless of age. Emphasis is placed on serving minority persons and those persons with the greatest economic and social need.
Transporting, receiving, and handling product
Organization and inventory of food items
Assist with frozen meal distributions
Pick-up, delivery, inventory, and receipt paperwork
Vehicle Maintenance and cleaning:
*Report any vehicle concerns/questions to Catholic Charities maintenance staff
Education: High School Diploma
Job-Related Experience: 2 years of experience
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to successfully clear a pre-employment back assessment. A valid driver's license is required for this position, as well as excellent driving skills/record. Experience with pulling, parking, and backing a vehicle with an attached trailer is required. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs without assistance is required. Ability to drive a utility/cargo van is preferred. Experience in operating a pallet jack is preferred.

Transporting, receiving, and handling product
- *Load and unload Catholic Charities refrigerated van/truck/freezer trailer with food to be transported to Catholic Charities Senior Dining cooking kitchens, storage, or distribution sites
- May be required to deliver Meals on Wheels as needed
- *Load and unload product and meals into client vehicles
- *Operate a pallet jack and two-or-four-wheeled hand truck to move product in and out
Organization and inventory of food items
- *Organize dry storage and freezer(s) areas
- *Assist with maintaining a clean work environment for the Senior Dining work area
- *Report inventory of dry storage and freezer space(s) to the Senior Dining Inventory Control Specialist
Assist with frozen meal distributions
- Assist staff and volunteers with setting-up and taking down an event (table, tent, placement of signs, etc.) as assigned
- *Assist with loading frozen meals into client vehicle(s)
- *Work cooperatively with other Senior Dining staff and volunteers at the event
- Load meal boxes and bags into and out of vehicles and the freezer trailer as needed
- Assist with bagging meals and stocking the freezer as needed
Pick-up, delivery, inventory, and receipt paperwork
- *Log vendor pick up and distribution receipts so proper records can be maintained
- *Log gas purchased and miles driven so proper records can be maintained
- *Keep inventory logs for freezers, storage units, and program storage areas
- *Maintain maintenance and repair logs for program vehicles
Vehicle Maintenance and cleaning:
- *Clean and sanitize food cargo interior daily
- *Check Senior Dining vehicles to make sure they are in safe operating condition; fill gas and fluids as needed
- *Clean vehicle cab interiors weekly
- *Follow Catholic Charities Maintenance plan for vehicles
- *Perform minor vehicle, equipment, and site maintenance for Senior Dining
- Wash Senior Dining vehicles and trailer as needed
*Report any vehicle concerns/questions to Catholic Charities maintenance staff
