POSITION SUMMARY The Nurse Educator provides clinical staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. Each supports the development of the bedside nurse and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced-based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the Nurse Educator is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within Trinity Health System to meet the needs of the diverse units within the Trinity Hospital and the global needs of Trinity Health. Must be able to withstand physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds. Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration with entities across the care system. Primary work will be in Surgical Services at this time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Licenses and Certifications Required Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN license. BLS and ACLS required within orientation period. Other certifications as required by the specific unit the Nurse Educator serves. For example, a NICU Nurse educator would be required to have NRP, etc. BLS, ACLS Instructor level certification is preferred. Educational Requirements RN by licensure required; BSN and/or Masters preferred. Non-BSN applicants: Completion of BSN program required within first 3 years of holding the position. Official diploma or transcript from the school/university from where Degree was received. Experience Requirements The position requires 3 years of applied clinical experience as an RN in a health-related field or as a Nurse Educator or Instructor and a minimum of one-year experience in the areas he/she is applying for. A Master#s Degree in Nursing may be substituted for 2 years of required experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Audiovisual equipment set up an advantage. Special Skills or Training Requirements
