For the last 100 years, our engines, generators and UPS products have powered homes, hospitals lawn mowers, stadiums, and everything in-between. As a Project Design Analyst in the Power Products group, You will provide the engineering support needed to sustain generator development and design with the ability to manage projects. Create bills of material, CAD models, and layouts for new power generation systems. Lead and collaborate with CAD resources domestically and internationally in the creation of detail drawings and product development. Interface with purchasing agents and manufacturing engineers in designing and choosing components and methods of manufacture.
  • Lead CAD design, development, and support of generator groups, modules, kits, options, and accessories by preparing mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, detail drawings, dimensional prints, and bills of materials using CREO Parametric and Windchill software.
  • Develop moderately complex parametric components, assemblies, drawings, layouts, and specifications with sound understanding of the design intent and fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Work in conjunction with Engineering System Support to standardize software, and processes for CAD design requirements and engineering change management systems.
  • Support and contribute information cross functionally and cross culturally to achieve desired process and generator set design results.
  • Participate and lead global design and harmonization efforts.
  • Support genset conceptual and development builds through a gated engineering release process.
  • Analyze designs and make recommendations for changes, modifications, or cost reductions. Investigate and correct design problems.
  • Independently resolve software issues using Kohler reporting tools and service requests. Follow up to ensure that there is resolution. In addition, develop and demonstrate proficiency in SAP & CREO.
  • Continually strive for process and CAD standards improvements, including model-based definition, model-based enterprise and connected smart factory.
  • Work with Purchasing Buyers to ensure that purchased parts are clearly identified and ordered on time.
  • Supply technical and design support to Project Engineer to support development capabilities.
  • Maintain schedule for assigned projects and deliver results on time. Be perceptive to risks and benefits required to investigate and correct design problems. Execute changes or modifications based on sound business judgment.
  • Works within established procedures and concepts; reviews progress, evaluates results, and implements changes.
  • Takes ownership and accountability of both individual work and work completed as part of a team.
  • Build business relationships and trust within Kohler Power Systems and Kohler Co. as a whole.
  • Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the Kohler Career Management Process.

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or similar. 1+ Years of experience preferred.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and/or with teams.
  • Communicates well, possesses strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Analytical with a high degree of problem-solving skills and data analysis skills.
  • Makes appropriate decisions using support tools and critical thinking.
  • Willing and successful in taking moderate risk.
  • Well organized, manages time and projects effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Creative problem solver in all aspects of the role.
