Eaton's Power Reliability Division is currently seeking a Tool & Die Designer to join our team. This position is based at our South Milwaukee, Wisconsin facility.

The Tool & Die Designer is responsible to define, plan and monitor site tooling activities including managing cost, purchasing and inventory. Interacts with manufacturing, engineering, quality, maintenance and the tooling team to perform all job responsibilities and to initiate continuous improvement activities.

In this function you will:
  • Design and oversee all new tool builds and ensure tools are delivered to internal specifications and best practices within timelines.
  • Support the tooling team in developing, maintaining and repairing tooling including but not limited to epoxy molds, fixtures, gauges, assembly carts, tools and tool holders.
  • Support product & process development projects to ensure design for manufacturability and a flawless production launch. Participate on PROLaunch projects (NPI, VAVE, STP, BPI, and/or AIF).
  • Develop, evaluate and improve tooling methodology including documenting into specifications, standard work processes and tracking metrics.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • Assist with MESH (Safety) categories as assigned.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments, as necessary.

Qualifications - Internal

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) is required.
  • Completion of a Trade School or Vocational certification program in Technical Design or Engineering or an Associates Degree in Technical Design or Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of design experience with fixtures, tools, material handling and basic die design
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of South Milwaukee will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Design experience with fixtures, tools, material handling and basic die design
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated technical communication skills
  • AutoCAD experience preferred

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and make sound decisions
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor
  • Experience Developing, maintaining and repairing tooling
  • Knowledge of material selection (Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Aluminum, Plastic)
  • Knowledge of machining practices
  • Knowledge of measurement tools and quality systems and how to apply to gauges and check fixtures. (Digital indicators, go/no go gauges)
