The selected Water Resources Drainage Engineer will design complex transportation and civil drainage systems, Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Plans, storm-water management facilities, NPDES permitting, and H&H analysis. The Senior Drainage Engineer will assist with stormwater and H&H aspects of projects in Minnesota and regionally; will engage with Michael Baker's Great Lakes region (western PA to Minnesota) water resources group, coordinating on technical and workload issues; attending and actively participating in client meetings; and assisting in developing marketing proposals.

  • Demonstrate technical ability in design of common water resources task such as design of storm water management systems, pipe hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, scour, Floodplain Evaluation, and show experience with NPDES Permit Compliance both in documentation (i.e. SWDR and WQMP documents) and design of water quality BMPs.
  • Work closely with the clients as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Develop project scope of work documents and project plans that include an analysis of benefit, cost, work schedule, and any related risks.
  • Monitor and communicate project related issues, scope changes variances and contingencies that may arise during the construction of projects.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to Construction related conflicts and RFIs.
  • Meet with and effectively communicate with project partners, project stakeholders and the general public to maintain strong relationships.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • 6 to 12+ years of related experience or familiarity with the planning and design for water resources (including water, stormwater quality, and surface drainage) engineering with increasing levels of job responsibilities and client interactions
  • Minnesota P.E. license or ability to obtain one
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, analysis software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, InfoWorks ICM, Bentley Pondpack or similar (i.e. ICPR, PONDS), Flo-2D and SWMM models, and Microstation. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling, infrastructure planning and design, construction support, pipeline and pumping station engineering is preferred
  • Expertise with stormwater management/water quality and drainage is a plus
