What This Role Does:

  • The Men's Technical Designer is responsible for accurately interpreting design's intent from development through production.

  • Create and maintain tech packs including garment construction, sketches, graded measurement charts, fit comments, and pattern corrections.

  • Communicate fit revisions to factories through pattern corrections and images.

  • Maintain fit consistency based on category history, block patterns and standards specs.

  • Research and resolve fit and construction issues using appropriate resources.

  • Identify potential production, quality, costing issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent.

  • Schedule and lead fit sessions.

  • Research competitors, trends, and new technologies in the industry.

  • Track and manage samples to ensure seasonal deadlines are met.

  • Analyze fabric testing information to ensure DT standards are met

  • Conduct competitive analysis when required

  • Collaborate with the Design, Materials and Product Development teams on the development of designated garment collections.

  • Build relationships with makers to understand and support their technical capabilities.

  • Ensure timelines are met for all samples milestones.

  • Conduct wear tests based on current process to ensure the garment wear-ability and fit of graded sizes.

  • Travel overseas and to local vendors as necessary or as applicable. Approximately 5% to 10% of the time.

  • Maintain organized archive of data in the Jockey Kenosha office including fit approved garments, weartest results, graded garments and production patterns of all styles.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel or Fashion Design including experience in Technical Design, Product Development and Patterning

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in patternmaking, fitting and construction

  • Intimate Apparel/Underwear, swim, and/or activewear of men's or women's product categories experience required

  • Knowledge of apparel construction

  • Working knowledge of PLM systems and Gerber Pattern Design

  • Sketching skills using Adobe Illustrator

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Experience with extended size fit and grade

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication with strong organization and time management skills

  • Resourceful and agile learner
