Job Location: Must be able to travel to one of our office locations (Grafton, Wisconsin or O'Fallon, Missouri), when needed.

Summary

The Junior DevOps Engineer analyzes the company's operating applications to provide optimal performance and integration of resources supporting the technological environment. Infrastructure & automation focused person who wants to help UFS build a cloud experience in the UFS datacenter. Proactively analyzes performance, maintains efficiency, and resolves problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong ability to create, improve, drive automation
  • Ability to work on Linux and Windows based systems
  • Responsible for the implementation of actionable monitoring solutions, ensuring high availability
  • Provide hands-on and remote troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Drive efforts to proactively identify application or system issues improving availability and performance
  • Ensure application Service Level Agreements are exceeded by maintaining ownership of incidents through resolution
  • Complete projects, coordinate with team members and provide status updates
  • Assist on entry phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities
  • Track problems and bugs and communicate with customer as resolutions are implemented
  • Coordinate the prompt diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure issues that have an impact on the document management/production environment
  • Perform troubleshooting techniques to solve connectivity problems; working with appropriate vendors for resolution
  • Stay current on security-related issues and analyze the impact on UFS; making recommendations for security management and monitoring processes
  • Generate and maintain virtual servers/containers; perform cloning tasks and snapshots and monitors performance
  • Responsible for workstation/server security
  • Vulnerability and Cyber security awareness to resolve issues
  • Perform problem-solving duties for supported applications for internal and external customers


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or
  • Experience with server (Linux and Windows) and infrastructure automation
  • DevOps/Cloud experience
  • MS SQL experience
  • Previous experience in the banking industry a plus


Knowledge and Skill

  • Ability to identify and create solutions with automation
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of containers and DevOps practices
  • Working knowledge of security practices relating to servers and infrastructure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Has a working knowledge of Microsoft and Linux operating systems

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, usually waist high, up to 50 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
