Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer for our location in Plymouth, MN.

This position is for an Electrical Engineer with a broad background and wide interests whose expertise can be applied to the development of cutting-edge military programs. Responsibilities include:

Provide technical leadership for Electrical Engineers on complex development programs.
Work with an Integrated Product Team across engineering disciplines to ensure teams drive toward optimal interdisciplinary solution.
Present program technical status to internal management and customers.
Perform research, design, and development in such areas as power conditioning electronics, analog circuit design, digital circuit design, FPGA design, and other general electrical engineering design functions.
Apply research to the planning, design, development and testing of electrical circuits for use in military applications.
Generate schematic designs using CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics.
Compile and analyze test data to determine effect of design on electrical circuits.
Develop specifications for and perform selection of components for use in electrical circuits for military applications.
Utilize electrical CAD tools for circuit performance simulation in aid of circuit development.
Work with board layout specialists to create PWB designs.
Work with manufacturing operations to get CCAs assembled and tested.
Strong analytical skills and the ability organize/prioritize job assignments and tasks.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team to understand system level interdependencies that impact circuit requirements and design constraints.
Is comfortable working in a support role to other design engineers and is an active learner of new design techniques and technologies.

Basic Qualifications

Requires a minimum BSEE plus 10 years experience or an MSEE plus 7 years experience from an accredited college.
Experience in technical leadership of a complex program requiring coordination of engineering work.
Wide range of design experience in analog and digital electronics in leading-edge product development projects.
Solid understanding of electronic product development processes.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional team members.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.
Position may require occasional travel to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with suppliers.
Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in developing high reliability electronics to meet military environmental requirements such as extreme temperature conditions, high G shock loads, vibration, and extended storage times.
Understanding of Six Sigma principles including design for manufacturing, assembly and test.
Experience with Mentor Graphics design tools.
DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: 108900 - 163300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
