These solutions include leading-edge networks, 9-1-1 database services, professional support systems and a number of call handling solutions including next generation IP-enabled controllers, intelligent workstations, mapping, cloud-aided dispatch and FirstNet solutions. AT&T Public Safety Solutions delivers fully integrated, end-to-end emergency response solutions.

AT&T has an opening for a Technical Sales Consultant III to support the Public Safety Solutions organization, in providing world-class consulting to AT&T's public safety customers.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Acts as primary technical point of contact for Public Safety/9-1-1 customers, technology partners and Public Safety Application Sales Executives for the design, proposal and sale of complex solutions.
  • Serves as the Trusted Technical Advisor to public safety customers by exhibiting expertise in NG911 and IP networking solutions with the highest ethical standards.
  • Assists the account team in responding to customers' RFP/RFO/RFI by providing technology guidance, design, content and pricing.
  • Familiarity with and a deep technical understanding of AT&T's new and emerging application services and products that may relate to public safety/9-1-1 solution sales.
  • Works with local account teams in design of call handling WAN networks using MPLS and Ethernet solutions as well as FirstNet and LTE technologies.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers in Local, County, State governments such as C-Level executives, PSAP Directors, City/County Board and Commission representatives, Police/Fire/EMS Chiefs in order to influence technology strategy and direction.
  • Contributes to the sales team's attainment of aggressive annual sales quota for new public safety solutions and network services through technical consulting activities.
  • Provides technical support in sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Functions as an overlay to account teams and must be a team player with a can-do attitude and strong desire to exceed expectations with minimal direct supervision.
Duties directly related to making sales includes:
  • Meeting with customers and engaging in sales activities at the customer's site; communicating with customers via phone, teleconference, e-mail, etc. related to proposed solutions/sales, etc.;
  • Travel within assigned territory is required and could spend more than 50% of their time performing duties directly related to making sales away from their offices at a customer's place of business or home;
  • Attendance at various trade shows/conferences to promote AT&T's leadership in the Public Safety industry;
  • Identification of new opportunities and ability to close sales through persuasive negotiations;
  • Proactive development of NG911, ESInet and CAD opportunities;
  • Utilization of Consultative Selling techniques;
  • Presentations to large audiences on technical and complex solutions requiring effective communication skills;
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to customers regarding complex public safety/9-1-1 solutions.
Experience:
  • 10+ years' experience in selling complex networking solutions to state and local Government customers
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex information into layman's terms for ease in understanding.
  • Comfortable in presenting technical solutions to large audiences and executive management.
  • Understanding of legacy 9-1-1 solutions, NG911, ESInet, cloud based applications, Phase I/II wireless, Text to 9-1-1, CAD, JMS, RMS, Management Information Systems (MIS), ALI Database systems, voice logging systems, wireless broadband solutions, mobility applications and hosted telephony architecture.
  • Understanding of legacy network services (CAMA, T1, PRI, POTS).
  • Strong knowledge and previous experience designing emerging network services (MPLS & Ethernet) in support of 9-1-1 call handling and ESInet solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of 9-1-1 operations and call handling solutions from Motorola, Intrado & Solacom.
  • Familiarity with network security and working knowledge of AT&T's security solutions portfolio.
  • Knowledge of network components from AudioCodes, Oracle, Sonus, Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto, Avaya.
  • Understanding of AT&T sales processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Technical training courses/certifications in network technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, CISSP, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
