Want to get paid for making feature stories and short documentaries? Do you have experience making videos and posting them to the web? KSMQ TV, a PBS affiliate, is looking for a Digital Content Producer.

 

KSMQ Public Television is a non-profit broadcaster that provides essential media content and other services to over 700,000 residents in 22 counties in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.

We are looking for a highly energetic, organized professional who understands the value of technology. The Digital Content Producer will help KSMQ build on its solid foundation of delivering content to a wider audience as well as our immediate and surrounding communities!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Digital Content Producer is the hands-on manager and content editor of the web page and social media pages. The Digital Content Producer will be expected to create video stories with an emphasis on programming for the web and to be able to assist in other TV productions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assistance with production of our programs (producing, videography, and editing);
  • Upload programming to KSMQ social media outlets and Passport;
  • Producing and editing promotions and short form video stories for the web;
  • Assist with live-streaming events;
  • Keep an eye out for new ways to share KSMQ programming digitally;
  • Manage the development, activation, upkeep and advancement of all KSMQ Public Television digital and social media engagement across all platforms including Passport, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and possibly others;
  • Collaborate with producers to conceptualize and execute online campaigns for each local program produced by KSMQ Public Television;
  • Online feedback and data collection;
  • Organize online feedback and impact events;
  • Manage troubleshooting of any technical issues relating to all social digital efforts.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in television, mass communication, marketing, or digital media preferred; 
  • Experience with producing short form video stories;
  • Demonstrable television media file management experience;
  • Passion for social media and thorough skills and strategic understanding of social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube;
  • Computer literacy required (Word, Outlook, Excel); 
  • Video editing experience (preferably Final Cut X);

  • Strong communication and writing skills;
  • Keen ability to express creative ideas and contribute to developing innovative concepts;
  • Strong collaboration skills and “team player” attitude;
  • Ability for independent thought, problem-solving skills and the foresight to involve others when needed;
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
  • Accuracy and reliability for exceptional attention to detail;
  • Even temperament, especially when working under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to juggle a variety of content, manage many details, complete multiple daily tasks, when meeting deadlines;
  • Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple groups/levels in an organization;
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50#, and have the ability to perform physical functions as required.
  • Be a self-starter, show initiative.
