Position Information

The North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is looking for an experienced Information Processing Specialist. We are a full service, AAVLD accredited laboratory, and NAHLN member, whose primary mission is to provide high quality diagnostic service to veterinarians, the animal industry, and the public health sector of North Dakota and the region. Our annual caseload includes over 100K laboratory tests, assays, and procedures in the areas of microbiology, serology, molecular diagnostics, pathology, and toxicology. This is a full-time salaried position with excellent benefits, including a full paid family health insurance plan

Responsibilities:
  • Enter submissions, test orders, and other information into laboratory information system (LIMS)
  • Answer client inquiries by phone, email, and in person, aid clients with submissions, collect payment, and take detailed histories
  • Proofread, edit, and disseminate detailed diagnostic reports and case charges/invoices to laboratory clients
  • Participate in quality system and complete and maintain up-to-date training as required
  • Receive laboratory submissions and barcoding samples
  • Prepare and ship samples to referral laboratories
  • Managing local courier service for laboratory submissions
  • Receive incoming laboratory supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Advertised Salary:
  • $42,000-$48,000 DOE

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Customer/client service and general clerical experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree or higher
  • Five or more years of customer/client services
  • Five or more years of clerical experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with veterinary species
