About the Job

POSITION: Twelve-month, 100%-time (40 hours a week) appointment at $42,000-$52,000 per year plus a competive benefits package. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement rural science education programming outreach activities for internal and external K-12 audiences at the University of Minnesota Crookston, including providing support for the Western Regional Science Fair, the Global Youth Institute, Agriculture Science Outreach programming, robotics and water quality camps, and other science education programs. This position will work closely with science faculty as well as Admissions to enhance rural STEM education in the region by applying technology to agriculture education, health science education, and other programming through the implementation of hands-on, peer-to-peer learning activities. The incumbent will be responsible for a broad range of external communications related to STEM educational programming.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience which includes science coursework and laboratory experience. Equivalent combination of relevant academic and outreach work experience will be considered. Ability to read, write and understand English. Candidates must demonstrate self-awareness of one's own cultural beliefs, perspectives, and privileges as part of one's orientation toward leadership and public engagement, and strive to generate mutual solidarity among historically underrepresented populations. Final job offer contingent upon complete background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree in a science field or other relevant field such as communication, agriculture, educational technology, or other similar field relevant to the extensive public outreach activities of this position. Individuals with experience teaching science courses at the middle/high school level are encouraged to apply.
