Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in field of competence; e.g. Mechanical, Marine
10 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence
5 Years of Supervisory Experience
Must have a working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process
Must have ability to work within schedule and budget restraints
Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
Must have ability to maintain confidentiality

Desired Qualifications:

Supervisory and Management skills
Technological skills proven by verifiable and specific work experience, technical publication, or patent issue
Working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process
Working knowledge of Computer software and systems used for steel functional design and production engineering (AVEVA Marine, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D)
Current computer skills relevant to the field of competence

Position Summary:This position is responsible for assisting in defining Contract Requirements as relating to Marine Engineering and pertaining to all acquired Ship Design and Build Projects at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by assisting the Engineering Manager, Project Engineers and leading engineering groups in determining the technical requirements of the project; defining resource requirements to achieve schedule and budget commitments; and solving technical issues as they arise.

Detailed Description:

Attend meetings to participate in resolution of engineering issues as related to specific projects.
Attend meetings to establish and support potential outside providers of supplies and services designed to enhance Engineering Group processes.
Attend meetings to establish and support customers to assist in the resolution of technical issues related to equipment and engineering design.
Attend meetings to establish potential and actual providers of project specific technical hardware (and software) for possible application to Ship Design.
Engage and Manage Engineering Subcontractors
Estimate ETC for Functional Group
Assist scheduling in developing and maintaining project schedules
Work with Vendors to obtain and evaluate quotes for procured items
Mentor and develop employees
Prepare estimates as required
Specify and requisition material through company ERP system
Solve technical issues and implement solutions, provide briefings.
Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments.
Develop contract change documents to support the project needs.
May be required to lead or participate in product improvement projects
