Frito Lay's Maintenance Mechanic Internship program is designed to provide students an opportunity to work side by side with experienced mechanics while gaining hands on experience in rebuilding, repairing, troubleshooting, fabricating, and building industrial equipment. The program will last one semester with the potential for additional semesters. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for full time employment with Frito Lay as a Maintenance Mechanic. The program will be designed to match work tasks with current or previous courses taken. The successful candidate will work 16 to 24 hours a week in an industrial maintenance environment. The work hours will flex based on your class schedule. The candidate will attend all required trainings including Safety Programs and job-specific trainings. Frito Lay will provide all required personal protective equipment including safety boots, shirts and tools needed to complete tasks and assignments.
Day to Day Activities:
Schedule & Prioritize work
Preventative Maintenance Inspections
Proactive / Follow up repairs
Demand work (VCR's & Failures)
Examples of daily follow up / demand work:
Brakes
U- Joints / Bearings
Steering / Suspension
tarting / Charging
Emissions / Drivability diagnosis
Light Engine repair; Water pumps, Injectors, Fuel Pumps

Minimum Qualifications
Strong performance, attendance, and academic standing with technical school program
Willingness to work 16 to 24 hours per week and to commit to a semester-long program
Must have at least 1 semester completed in the industrial maintenance or similar program
Authorized to work in United States on a permanent basis
Must be 18 years of age or older
